Understanding banter - with Housing Solutions

With four back-to-back 90-minute sessions and a change of location mid-way through, we needed to send our most Anneka-Rice-like Laughologist to work with Housing Solutions for the day.
Unfortunately, she wasn’t available, so Sarah Creegan went instead.
In an ever-changing world, Housing Solutions provides its whole team with regular EDI training. The aim of these Laughology sessions was to help everyone understand what banter is—and isn’t—and how and when to use humour and laughter appropriately to build positive relationships with colleagues and residents.
The sessions provided a great opportunity for people to:
- Think about the way they would like to be thought of in the workplace
- Chat about how they are contributing to having a psychologically safe environment that people are proud to work in, and residents are proud to live in
- Remind themselves about the power of pausing when having challenging conversations
- Think about what more they can do to consciously include others
