Laughology Spotlight On… Louisa Rodriguez

From tank-driving to helicopter winching, Louisa Rodriguez is our resident adventure-seeking Laughologist who never met a comfort zone she couldn't gleefully leap beyond.

After all, when she heard about the gameshow Total Wipeout, she thought "why not?" – only realising mid-bounce off those infamous red balls that millions would witness her gravity-defying antics on prime-time BBC1. Oops.

The Curious Mind Behind the Adventures

Behind the daredevil exterior lurks a psychology enthusiast who devours books and podcasts like others binge Netflix box sets. Louisa’s curiosity-fuelled brain has powered her remarkable journey from a decade advocating for marginalised communities to establishing Learning & Development departments that transform workplace cultures.

Her early career in the voluntary sector wasn't just about ticking boxes, though. No, siree. Louisa designed and delivered training that challenged professionals to rethink stereotypes and dismantle barriers for those she supported.

She even established a groundbreaking service to support women transitioning out of sex work – proof that meaningful change happens when compassion meets practical action.

The Women for Peace programme she ran across Northern England demonstrated her ability to bring people together around shared values, a skill she'd later bring to corporate environments with equally impressive results.

From Advocacy to Business Transformation

In 2017, Louisa pivoted to the business sector, taking on the challenge of building L&D departments from scratch for two different companies. Talk about diving into the deep end!

She specialised in leadership and performance, helping organisations understand that great leadership isn't about fancy titles – it's about creating environments where people can thrive.

While working within organisations, Louisa wasn't just occupying desk space. She drove cultural change initiatives, introduced coaching programmes that actually stuck, and embedded leadership, learning and development strategies that transformed workplace dynamics.

Her mental health and wellbeing strategies went beyond the usual "here's a fruit bowl and a yoga class" approach, instead focusing on sustainable changes supporting genuine well-being.

She's even represented at the UN Commission on the Status of Women in both 2023 and 2024 – proving you can be serious about making a difference while refusing to take yourself too seriously.

The Laughologist in Action

As a Laughologist, Louisa brings her unique blend of psychological insight, leadership expertise, and genuine warmth to every workshop she delivers. When Louisa enters the room, people quickly discover they're not in for the typical corporate training session.

Her approach weaves together psychology, leadership wisdom, and well-being expertise into workshops that engage everyone and spark critical thinking. She’s an expert in bringing an understanding of inclusion, empowerment and equality to the workplace.

Whether she's helping teams navigate change, develop inclusive leadership practices, or build resilience, Louisa's sessions are memorable for both their content and her engaging delivery style.

Just don't ask her to explain what possessed her to run up a mountain with the Bulgarian National Running team. Some mysteries are best left unsolved.

In their own words:

  • Lindsey Orrock, Dundee and Angus College: “Brilliant session! Informative and fun.”
  • Jennie Speedie, Caledonia Housing Association: Louisa delivered a fun, engaging and thought-provoking session. The balance between humour and learning was exactly what we had asked for. Thank you Louisa!”
  • Kelsey Parsons, Gunnebo Entrance Control: “Great approach - very relatable and lighthearted.”
