Positive communication and relationship building with Loop Horizon
For their team get together in July, Loop Horizon wanted to spend some time building relationships and strengthening their team as a whole. However, they wanted more than just some ‘team building’ games, they wanted to provide everyone with the opportunity to stretch their brains a little bit, push themselves out of their own perspective and get a better understanding of everyone in the room.
Therefore, Laughology’s Laura Drury joined the team for an activity-packed afternoon to do all of the above through their Positive Communication and Relationship Building session. A professional services company, Loop Horizon supports large brands as they ‘transition to data-driven marketing future’. Therefore, when creating solutions or supporting a client, having the ability to tune in to someone else’s view, and what works not just for the business but for the individual is key, too.
A wonderfully warm group of people, despite knowing very little about Laughology, they engaged with buckets of energy and enthusiasm. The ideal environment for our work to work.
After imagining going on a trip (destination unknown), and only allowing each group to take three individual items (no multipacks) between them, we explored the dynamic of the group. This activity is also a great way to demonstrate how our brains perceive situations in completely different ways. From here, to discussing what social intelligence is and how we can get more of it, it became apparent that this communication business is not such a straightforward thing.
The sweet spot came in the middle of the session when we explored different thinking and communication styles and considered the behaviours of each style on both a good and a bad day. It’s by creating awareness of those moments that we can truly understand what impact we might have on the people around us. As with all the work we do, that awareness is half the battle!
Tying the session up looking at communication tools such as active listening and curious questions, we got a true reflection of the personalities in the room as when the frustrations of how to spend lottery winnings revealed themselves… much hilarity was had!
If you’d like to find out more about that lottery winning cliff hanger, or ask about this, or any of our session why not contact Doug – doug@laughology.co.uk …although don’t mention any form of competition to him, it gets ugly 😱
