Curtis, born and raised in Southend, Essex (despite lacking the stereotypical tan and quiff), overcame homelessness at 16 to pursue his theatrical dreams, earning a scholarship to performing arts college.

After three years of tight dancewear and relentless training, he toured UK theatres, even sharing a stage with 90s boyband Z-lister Antony Costa.

In 2015, he swapped the stage for O2, excelling in senior roles and leading a groundbreaking inclusivity campaign to employ individuals with Down Syndrome. A proud marathon finisher (3:53, London 2021), Curtis passionately hates seafood and paper straws.

Las Vegas Grill is a fish and chip shop along Southend Seafront. And for a while, it was my worst-paid job at just £2.10 an hour. The team was an intergenerational mismatch of chaos, with workforce ages ranging from 13 to 80 - but I cherished every moment there.
