Resilience skills for children at Cookham Rise Primary

Developing resilience skills and exploring how changing the way we think can help children face problems as they arise. It was with this in mind that Victoria Maitland enjoyed an online visit to students from Cookham Rise Primary in late January, to deliver two virtual, action-packed FLIP-it Thinking sessions for 120 students.

After weeks of online learning, it was a chance to turn houses into obstacle courses and explore how to help ourselves be proactively positive using the FLIP-it toolbox. A wide range of problems were discussed, from loneliness and bullying to no food in the fridge and maintaining concentration.

By the end of the sessions, students had really got to grips with how to help themselves think differently and how we can all empower ourselves to be better people – particularly when it comes to dealing with brothers and sisters!

Fancy following in the footsteps of Cookham Rise Primary and thinking differently to build your resilience? Why not start the day by thinking that everything will go well for you? Or try developing a personal positive mantra for success. It will really help you focus on the positives.
