Menopause Awareness at Toyota Financial Services

Take a bow, Mr Fran Kenny! Fran, from Toyota Financial Services, is a big advocate of menopause awareness training. 

So much so, Sarah Creegan spent two days delivering 6 FLIPPING Menopause sessions to the TFS team; 3 face-to-face at their Head Office in Epsom for leaders and managers and three online for anyone in the company with an interest in supporting menopause in the workplace. People from Kinto (another part of the business) were also invited to learn more about the symptoms and helpful tips for managing them.

A wide range of people attended:

  • People who are currently going through perimenopause or think they will be soon
  • Leaders who are keen to support others in their team
  • One lovely chap whose fiancée said he should. Good for her. And good for him!

Menopause awareness in the workplace can be tricky for in-house L&D departments to deliver themselves, as it can be hard to get the tone right, and it can also be an embarrassing subject to talk about. Of course, it shouldn’t be, but there is still a taboo that we’re chiselling away at.

Instead, organisations prefer to call in a Laughologist. Sarah’s sessions include an appropriate and healthy mix of humour – not laughing at the menopause, but using fun activities to bring the psychology and neuroscience to life and help make the learning stick. She may also have, on one or two occasions, over-shared. For that, we can only apologise!
