Learning at Work Week went with a bang

During Learning and Work Week, the Laughology team donned their learning capes, packed Curly Wurly’s, and set off around the country – virtually and in situ – to bring laughter and learning to the masses.

Supporting companies such as BlackRock, HSBC, TESCO, SopraSteria and KPMG, Kerry Leigh, Laura Drury, Victoria Maitland and Dave Keeling delivered sessions on Growth Mindset, FLIP, Wellbeing and How to have great conversations

Stephanie Davies, Laughology’s Head of Happiness, had to learn quickly too as HSBC wanted to make their Learning at Work Week a hybrid one. What this means for any of you who’ve been hiding under a bed for the last year, is that Stephanie presented her talks face to face and was linked up to the web so people could watch her online too.

But as always keen to learn herself and push the boundaries, Stephanie wasn’t happy with people just watching, she wanted to make it as interactive for the people online as in the room.  So, wired up like Anneka Rice without the jumpsuit, she made it work so she could talk live to the nation (Okay it was just HSBC but there were a lot of them – 187 online on one session alone to be precise).

She interacted virtually and physically for a full hour and then repeated it. It worked a treat.  With people being able to feedback answers in the room and live from Zoom, the session was truly hybrid. HSBC learning and tech team made the magic happen behind the scenes and after two back-to-back sessions, everyone was ready for a cuppa and curly wurly.

Overall the sessions were attended by over 350 people who were treated to a special version of Growth Mindset – called LoL for Learning. All about how the brain learns stuff and why laughter makes learning stick.  The session gave some top tips for learning new habits and memory. You can find some here.

HSBC said, ‘This lady makes learning not only fun, but her energy is immense and infectious. One tip I’ll be trying is habit blocks – if you want to learn something new and make it a new habit add it onto an existing part of your day.’
