How to be an effective manager

The role of the manager is changing. It’s not enough anymore to just be an expert in your area. People skills are essential.  That’s where Laughology’s Big Chats, Little Chats – Being a People Manager programmecomes in.

Laughology’s finest Lead Happiness Consultants Kerry Leigh and Dave Keeling, together with CEO and Head of Happiness, Stephanie Davies, have been working with the UK’s best-known website register company to support manager development.

The course has included all manager levels and has been delivered over the last six months to 72 managers. The programme covers; how to have challenging but caring conversations, the importance of feedback and feed-forward and how to create an environment where everyone feels safe.

The course, delivered in modules, also includes ways to develop your team at every level, what it means to be an inclusive manager and ways to support resilience and problem-solving. The programme included action learning groups, where managers could discuss learning and link it to a current challenge. It was finished off with final presentations on what had been learnt and put into practice.
