The Science of Happiness with Aviva

Aviva in Latin means youthful, and as Lead Happiness Consultant Dave Keeling had just had his 51st birthday, this particular reminder stung a tad.

But that didn’t stop him from slapping on some extra moisturiser and skipping off to London to deliver a session on the Science of Happiness.

The audience was made up of delegates from Aviva’s external comms team who were having an annual offsite day.

The session was created to enable the group to think about realistic happiness in the workplace and give them practical techniques to bring the best version of themselves to wherever they are and whomever they’re with.

Dave led the team to explore this in a variety of engaging ways:

  • DOSE of Happiness – the neurotransmitters for wellbeing
  • How we process thoughts – awareness of ‘wonky’ thoughts and behaviours
  • Shifting from knowing to doing – motivation for self, others and the environment
  • Fast and Slow Thinking – how to shift thinking and embrace change
  • CQ+PQ=IQ – the art of collaboration and engagement
  • Warm connections – how to build quality relationships
  • How to thrive, not survive – through the 3Rs: refresh, relax and rest

This fun, illuminating, one-hour, whistle-stop tour of the neurology and psychology of happiness gave the audience a fresh perspective on themselves and those around them.

Not only that, but the ability to sense check, be more curious, and create space and time to really get to know their colleagues creates a working environment that is warm and welcoming, which is the very definition of happiness.
