Lead Happiness consultant Dave Keeling has been spending a lot of time working in Wrexham, so it was a bit of a come down to be invited to present a 90 min workshop in Barcelona to 70 team members from the international gaming company King.
So armed with his rubber brain, flip flops and a large bottle of Factor 50, Dave boarded a plane with the hope of adding a new addition to his fridge magnet collection.
The team building session, STOP, COLLABORATE AND LISTEN, was designed to encourage those present to explore and play around with the continuing importance of relationship building through effective communication (the group had not been in the same room for a considerable amount of time).
The session explored in a variety of ways.
- Fast and slow thinking – how to slow our thinking down so we can choose more helpful thoughts, behaviours, and actions.
- How to create the right environment – so we can bring the best version of ourselves to wherever we are and to whomever we’re with.
- Risk-taking – the art of knowing to doing.
- CQ +PQ +IQ – the formula for engagement and collaboration
- Thinking communication styles – how to speak four languages and embrace difference.
- Good humour ingredients – behaviours we display when we are at our best.
- Active listening – why we should listen to learn, not always listen to fix
- Magic questions – questions to encourage thinking outside our frame of reference.
The session was fast and interactive, with a blend of questioning, reflection, team activities and games, and the audience came away having laughed, learned and with a better understanding of each other.
Dave came away with one flip-flop, no suncream but a lovely magnet.
