Supporting transformation and growth at Bibby Line Group, Liverpool

Bibby Line Group is the UK’s oldest family-owned business, with a proud heritage dating back to 1807. Originally founded as a shipping enterprise and headquartered in Liverpool, Bibby Line Group has evolved impressively over the past two centuries.

Today, it’s one of the most diverse international businesses, operating across sectors including logistics, infrastructure, financial services and marine.

Back in 2008/2009, when Laughology was still in its infancy, Stephanie Davies, our Head of Happiness, received an invitation from Bibby Line Group to speak at one of their conferences. It became one of Laughology’s first significant corporate events, and the fact that it took place in Stephanie’s hometown made it particularly special.

Bibby Line Group’s continued success is built upon its ability to evolve, adapt, and innovate. So, when Stephanie was recently invited back to facilitate a leadership session at their latest event, she excitedly accepted.

Attended by around 30 senior leaders, the session focused on exploring innovative thinking, developing a growth mindset, enhancing feedback mechanisms, and helping teams embrace new ways of working.

An interactive session

Stephanie delivered an interactive workshop highlighting the critical role senior leaders play in modelling these behaviours. The session emphasised curiosity, being present, and the power of pausing, encouraging leaders and teams to respond thoughtfully rather than react impulsively, especially during periods of change and transformation.

Feedback from the session was overwhelmingly positive. One attendee, initially sceptical and openly hesitant about the workshop, later approached Stephanie to share that it had been one of the best sessions she had ever attended, providing valuable insights she could immediately apply.

Another senior leader involved in HR strategic projects also found the content directly applicable and left with several practical takeaways for her team.

For Stephanie, returning to Liverpool and collaborating again with Bibby Line Group felt like coming full circle, serving as a meaningful reminder of Laughology’s own journey and growth over the years.
