The solution to most challenges, where human beings are concerned, is the ability to communicate positively. This month, Laura was invited to do a session with Bauder roof specialists on that very topic, Positive Communication and Relationship Building.
Their aim was to build confidence when communicating and hone their skills to strengthen relationships. Particularly around active listening, which roofers tend to be good at due to their ‘eavesdropping’… sorry!
In this session, Laura helped the team look at:
- How our automatic assumptions and individual perceptions of situations influence how we communicate
- What social intelligence is and how to develop it
- The difference between internal, focused and observed listening
- How our different thinking styles shape our preferred method of communication, and what we need to do to engage people who think differently from us
- How humour and laughter help us connect positively, be open to different points of view, and help to build trust.
And there were plenty of giggles to be had during the session with a lovely, warm group of people.

Probably best not to mention roof jokes to him, though; they tend to go over his head.
