Laughology News – September 2025

September has been another jam-packed month for all of our Laughologists and while most of us were struggling to decide if it was still BBQ season or time to dig out the winter coats, Stephanie and her team were out there conquering conferences, delivering workshops, supporting major change programmes – and popping up on not one, not two, but three podcasts, including:

  • Tackling Loneliness with CIPD

The CIPD podcast, hosted by Nigel Cassidy invited Stephanie Davies with Caroline Woolland, Director of HR at the King’s Fund, and the brilliant well-being consultant and speaker Lizzie Webb to take on one of the workplace’s trickiest challenges: loneliness.

The latest CIPD Good Work Index 2025 revealed that more than a third of working adults report feeling lonely at work – a stat that should set alarm bells ringing. Loneliness isn’t just unpleasant; it has serious consequences for health, productivity, and organisational performance.

Stephanie and her fellow panellists dug into how we can spot the signs of loneliness, how to support those who are struggling, and how to create cultures where connection thrives. Spoiler: it involves more than just ‘team drinks’ on a Friday.

  • From Stand-Up to the Boardroom with James Martin

Next, Stephanie swapped loneliness for laughter with The James Martin Podcast (no, not the chef – this James is the sharp-witted entrepreneur behind several successful businesses).

The conversation took listeners on Stephanie’s journey from the comedy stage to the corporate boardroom, with plenty of laughs along the way. More importantly, it explored how humour is one of the most powerful tools for learning, resilience, and culture-building.

Stephanie also laid bare the hidden factors that damage people’s development and workplace culture – and what leaders can actually do about it. Expect insights, giggles, and plenty of food for thought.  You can listen to the full episode here.

  • Play, Laughter and Culture with the WorkL Team

Finally, Stephanie joined the WorkL Team podcast to chat about why play and laughter are so much more than ‘nice to have’ at work. They’re not fluffy extras; they’re cultural cornerstones.

The discussion delved into how fun, humour, and play help people navigate the tough days as well as the good ones, and why building the skills to laugh, adapt, and think differently makes organisations stronger and more human.  You can listen to the full episode here.
