Horsing around with My Little Pony

Who remembers My Little Pony? Head of Happiness, Stephanie Davies certainly does. She had the whole herd, including Rainbow and Jubilee, which is why all her Christmas dreams came true recently when she was invited to help promote the new Netflix movie, My Little Pony, A New Generation

She was chosen because the film’s central themes are positive relationships, curiosity, diversity and sharing positive messages through story and fun, which are all bang on-message in the Laughology-sphere. Stephanie also saw it as a chance to re-live her childhood and was hoping to blag some new merch from the filmmakers.

Stephanie supported the promotion of the film with research into how positive characters help children develop their own uniqueness. The research found that having positive characters who champion uniqueness encourages children to be themselves and to sparkle in their own unique way. Encouraging kids to dream big at a young age gives them the opportunity to discover something they’re good at.

In fact, 92% of parents surveyed for the research agreed that finding hidden talents and embracing uniqueness is important for children. Parents see kindness (59%), honesty (48%) and confidence (45%) as the three most important attributes to nurture in their children. Valuing creativity (20%) individuality (19%) and courage (18%) followed close behind.

Kids need to feel comfortable and confident to express how they feel and what they like. If you want some activities to do with your children over the Christmas period to help explore confidence and coping skills, you can download some of our FREE materials from our Happy-Centred School Programme.
