Every good movie has a sequel… and so, apparently, do Laughology sessions. Laura Drury was most certainly lucky when she joined the Authors’ Licencing and Collecting Society for a second time to focus on the main event – Creativity and Innovation.
When Laughology were first invited along, this was their key focus, but after further discussion they decided to run a session on growth mindset for their first visit as a foundation for thinking in way that creativity and innovation can flourish.
Like any business, throughout the years, ALCS has evolved, needing different requirements, skills and demands to thrive, specifically around its use of technology. In order to be the best they can be, they recognise the need to adapt, embrace creativity and become more innovative.
But what does that even mean? Well, this was a question we discussed in great detail at the start of the session – what’s the difference between the two? Also, what environment is required for creativity and innovation to thrive in? What behaviours support that environment?
We also looked at whether mistakes are just mistakes, the drama triangle and the importance of relationships in creativity. And, of course, we included the usual Laughology activities. One showing the impact change can have on creativity and innovation and another where the team got to come up with their very own innovation to solve a worldly challenge, with only 3 random objects – the mind boggles!
It was an absolute joy to go back and spend time with such a lovely bunch of people who embraced every challenge with good humour and lots of laughs – pun intended.
Luckily for Laura, the ALCS sequel was a success (breaking the movie ‘flop’ tradition) and there were some great outcomes from the day.
