If you haven’t already visited a CIPD Festival of Work, it’s a vast exhibition hall pulsing with the collective energy of 13,000 HR professionals, each one armed with a lanyard, a tote bag, and a keen interest in “unlocking human potential.”
Into this stepped the Laughology team – over-caffeinated, over-smiling and under-hydrated.
We handed out more leaflets than a local council by-election and powered ourselves on whizzy mouth-popping sweets and the thin promise of ‘synergy.’ It was like Glastonbury, but with better lighting, fewer wellies and more corporate jargon than a PowerPoint pitch-off.
By hour seven, we were knee-deep in paradigm shifts, agile mindsets, and something called ‘hybrid ecosystem alignment.’ We’re still not entirely sure what that means, but we nodded enthusiastically anyway. By day two, communication had broken down to psychic nods and slow blinks from across the stand. Hydration was a rumour. Time, a concept.
And yet — it was brilliant. We had hundreds of conversations, met nearly 600 genuinely interesting humans, and even managed to explain what Laughology does (roughly 147 times, but who’s counting?).
If you missed us, you can catch up on what we got up to here. And if you didn’t manage a chat at the stand, fear not — we’ve still got talk left in us, and yes, we’ll explain what we do again. Possibly with jazz hands.
