Banking on growth mind-set

Earlier in the month we delivered a keynote presentation for HSBC bank as part of its diversity programme. Stephanie Davies hosted the session, which was on the subject of unleashing potential with growth mind-set.

Organisations and leaders are increasingly interested in the theory of growth mind-set and Laughology is one of the UK’s leading experts in the field. Growth mind-set is a psychological theory which prescribes that there are two psychological models of leadership; fixed and growth mind-set. In a fixed mind-set, people believe qualities such as intelligence and talent are fixed traits and that talent alone creates success without effort. In a growth mind-set, people believe that their abilities can be developed through dedication and hard work. In a growth mind-set, people face challenge, fail, learn from mistakes and develop resilience. Most inspirational leaders display growth mind-set qualities.

Stephanie’s session was open to all at the bank and was very well attended. She concentrated on how to foster growth mind-set, specifically looking at language and how to use it to develop successful teams.
