Unconscious bias is an in-demand subject and we have seen an increasing number of inquiries. Recently we delivered a workshop on it for the National Housing Federation.
As one of the pioneers in training on the subject, our workshops look at all the issues around bias from a realistic, scientific perspective. All humans have bias and it is not something that we can simply get rid of.
Awareness is the first step. Once we are aware of it and what it is, we can find strategies to help. Our workshop looked at process and systems within the organisation, such as recruitment.
We analysed job ads, representation within the organisation and also external influencers such as customers, clients and stakeholders. The session produced much positive feedback and we hope to continue working with the Federation.
