Spreading happiness at Central Park School

Victoria Maitland visited Central Park School in Newham to spend the day with the year twos looking at how to FLIP problems in order to feel more positive and happy…

Much fun and giggling was had when the classes were challenged to overcome obstacles and come up with strategies. The children discovered the barriers and fears around learning something new and Victoria looked at how using a positive mindset can lead to confidence. Following Vicky’s workshops, Sarah Creegan delivered a twilight Flip It: keep calm and carry on session for parents and staff. Many parents brought their children along too, so the whole school community could learn together. There were lots of laughs, as young and slightly older played games linked to the FLIP principles of refocusing; using more positive language; thinking imaginatively when problem-solving and breaking unhelpful patterns.
