Presentation Skills at Cracked Foodservice Marketing

Lead Happiness Consultant, Dave Keeling, loves food. And if he can’t eat it, then he loves looking at it instead.

So he was thrilled for the chance to pop over to Weybridge and spend 3 days working with Cracked Foodservice Marketing (specialists in creative food and drink marketing).

The brief was to spend two days with two separate teams exploring presentation skills and creative and innovative thinking (hopefully with a buffet in the middle… Dave does love a buffet).

The objectives were to encourage various team members who present internally and externally, to understand, think and play around with how they want to get their message across, make it land, and be more engaging and flexible whilst pitching ideas.

So, whilst containing his glee at the prospect of a buffet of dreams, Dave put together a day for each team, which in a variety of ways looked at:

  • How we think and feel and how that impacts our decisions
  • What makes a great presenter/facilitator
  • The 4 P’s – Presence, Pictures, Planning and Participation
  • The power of storytelling and framing information for impact
  • Creative thinking skills for playfulness
  • Comedygrams for generating ideas
  • The proof persuasion method

Not to mention a veritable plethora of tips, tricks and ideas to help give confidence around presenting.

The two teams were then set the task to come up with a 5-minute presentation (to be done solo or in pairs) on anything they thought the audience may find interesting, which they would present to the group the following week.

The sole purpose was to create an opportunity to play around with and try out a few ideas, techniques and approaches they had picked up throughout the previous session and test them out in from of an audience.

The result (through a process of practical application and feedback) not only provided lots of laughs but also new facts, a more confident and versatile approach and a chance to explore new ideas.

And the best bit? Dave also got his hands on another buffet.
