Kerry Leigh is funny, warm and remarkable at connecting with other humans. Her mum says that as a child, she NEVER shut up. Thankfully, since then, she’s learned to balance speaking with listening, and customers often say that Kerry just ‘gets’ them.
Kerry’s ability to quickly develop rapport comes from her genuine interest in people; some might say nosey, we say curious. She’s studied psychology and psychotherapy, is an avid people-watcher (not in a weird way), and has performed standup comedy for over twenty years.
Her experience in compering comedy nights honed her skills in quickly connecting with people and bringing them on-side.
Kerry was instrumental in developing Laughology’s popular menopause awareness workshops from which customer feedback has been overwhelmingly positive. One female police officer told Kerry, “You’ve changed my life’ – after being empowered to have a difficult conversation that dramatically improved relationships impacted by the challenges of menopause.
She was also key in developing Laughology’s mental health, stress awareness and wellbeing content, to which she adds passion and authenticity by being open about her own experiences of depression and anxiety.
She brings positive humour to a topic that some initially feel uncomfortable talking about, helping to break down barriers and debunk myths and stereotypes.
Loving the audience – big or small
Kerry is as comfortable with a group of 12 as she is in front of a crowd of 500.
Essentially, she loves an audience, she loves learning, and she loves inspiring others to feel the same. She helps them identify what beliefs might be getting in the way of their development and how they can retrain their brains without taking themselves too seriously.
She understands and facilitates behaviour and culture change with her personable and playful style. Recently, while Kerry was delivering a company transformation programme, a participant emailed Kerry to say,
‘Your way of knowledge delivery using body language, little physical exercises, and using life examples all inspired me.’
When she isn’t busy motivating the masses by delivering a keynote or facilitating a workshop, Kerry can be found pole dancing, wild swimming or eating home-made energy balls.
In their own words:
- Deb Bentham, SERCO: “So engaging, funny & informative. Had us in stitches!”
- Cassie Powell, NHS Combined Healthcare: “Brilliant! Engaging, motivating and energising! Thank you for a brilliant session.”
- Alice Chadfield, We Us Ours: “Kerry was fantastic. Engaging and personable from start to finish, she read the room expertly and delivered two inspiring and enjoyable sessions. Everyone in the room was thoroughly inspired and impressed, and I don’t think any of us have laughed that much on a Tuesday, possibly ever before.”
