Positive Communication Training with Mace Industries

August is usually a month to rest, recharge and binge-watch Four in a Bed (don’t ask). But not when Corby’s on the cards.

It’s been years since Lead Happiness Consultant Dave Keeling last set foot in this Northamptonshire town (again, don’t ask). So, when the chance came to deliver a half-day session on positive communication and relationship building for eighteen of the good folks at Mace Industries, he leapt at it.

The session focused on helping people have more productive, positive — and sometimes challenging — conversations. The kind that builds stronger, more collaborative relationships inside and outside the business.

The morning was split into two parts and covered a wide range of engaging topics and models, including:

  • The Four Pillars of Psychological Safety
  • How we process thoughts (and reframe the wonky ones)
  • Fast and slow thinking
  • The art of motivation — and how it links to value and purpose
  • Shifting focus for more meaningful action
  • Professional curiosity and the art of collaboration
  • Warm connections: building trust by understanding people’s stories
  • Active listening and how to pay better attention
  • Communication styles: how to speak four languages
  • Feeding forward, not feeding back
  • E2C2: a template for helpful, effective conversations with positive challenge

The session was filled with openness, honesty, reflection — and plenty of laughs.

Dave made it back from Corby and now plans to put his feet up and watch people on TV berate each other’s bed and breakfast establishments.

Ahhh, summer.
