Cake and the emotional customer journey

At Laughology three of our favourite things are laughter, cake and creativity.

So when we were asked to combine all three we could hardly refuse. Brand and inovation experts Fusion Learning invited us along as consultants to work with one of their clients; a major foods group which manufactures and supplies, amongst other foods, cakes and pastries to many of the UK’s supermarket chains.

The project was looking at the emotional journey people make when they buy cakes and, as Laughology are the experts in emotions and how they affect behaviour, we were the obvious choice to provide some ideas and analysis.

It was fascinating project within which we looked at the motivations of cake buying and investigated opportunities for personalising cakes and for using humour and happiness as ingredients in new type of products.
