2021 the year we mainly laughed hysterically – here’s what we got up to…

This year we sent out:

  • Over 2000 Curly Wurlys
  • Over 1000 squidgy stress toys
  • Over 600 keyring torches
  • And we delivered over 1000 Laughology sessions
  • Making over 15,000 people laugh…(we think, couldn’t hear all of the because of zoom but we’re presuming from their faces…)

We got acquainted with new words and phrases like vax, non-fungible token and chumocracy. We started to learn with Covid. In July we reached step 4 of the Covid exit roadmap, which meant two very important things: firstly, we could attend Eighties weekenders in Butlins again, but more importantly, we could deliver face-to-face at large gatherings.

For most of the summer, the Laughology team WhatsApp pinged constantly with pictures of hotels, conference rooms and schools. Several Laughologists admitted they wept with emotion when they encountered their first hotel breakfast buffet.

Despite the freedom, working from home remained a factor in most people’s lives and looks set to continue until we know more about the impact of the omicron variant (which sounds like the title of a Marvel movie).

If we’re honest with each other, we’re all a little tired of Zooms and Teams but thankful they’ve allowed us to continue working. Having now chalked up almost two years in the pandemic world, we’ve all become more proficient in the digital workspace than we could have ever imagined.

Our 2021 in a nutshell

Throughout 2021, Laughology used these platforms to deliver over 1,000 events including free content and webinars. If you missed any of them, you can watch them again here and access our free stuff.

We also started our popular Friday Bursts. These are practical tips on everything from dealing with the Monday blues to presentation skills.  You can access them all on our YouTube channel.  We also launched Our Big Chat event.  This will now be hosted annually and be even bigger, funnier, and better next year, so watch this space.

We’ve also grown as a team with our new Head of People, Programmes and Playfulness, the ever fab and funny (even when she doesn’t intend to be) Sarah Brown and our new Guru of LOL and Operations, Pam Betts. Barry the cat has also been promoted to the Board where he’s now Head of Sleep.

There’s lots to look forward to next year with even more webinars and free events. Depending on guidelines, we’re also planning to host more live Lunchtime Laughter events throughout the UK, so keep signed up for these as spaces are limited and they are always popular.

And finally, keep an eye out for our website makeover in 2022.

We’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone who invited us to be part of their workspace this year, physical and virtual. We hope we brought some light and fun.

We’ll be here in 2022 ready to bring more smiles, joy and Curly Wurlys.
